To establish a set of responsibilities geared towards promoting racial harmony and affirming the best values of our community. With education and accountability, which will require respect for dignity, pride and self-respect of said community, We pledge to not use the “n” word as we strive toward cultural integrity and mutual respect for all Americans and to offer uncompromising resistance to social forces and structures which deny or limit our ability to do so.

Why do we exist?  To educate!  To Inform! To bring attention to the need for accountability within the African American infrastructure with emphasis on how this will help to lead to greater racial harmony in America.

What constituency do we serve?  The human race with emphasis directed towards the African American community.

What services do we provide?   Educating America primarily the African American community on how discontinuing the practice and habit of using the “n” word will help to improve racial relationship in this great country of ours; and more importantly breaking the last link in the chain to mental enslavement…self internalization of the n-word.

What needs of our constituency do we satisfy?  Appreciation of one’s self and their fellow man by paying allegiance to self-respect, pride, dignity and honor leading to a higher quality of life recognizing that an alternative way of life leads to self-destruction.

Who else provides similar services?  UVCC, Inc. seems to be alone in this fight against self-destruction and accountability for one’s actions.

How are we unique?  Recognizing the reality that the way to a higher quality of life is synonymous with having self-respect, pride, dignity and honor and that the Black community’s insistent use of the disrespectful “n” word is counter productive in this regard.  Recognizing the need and benefits of a healthy and free mind and having the will, fortitude to pursue a higher order of existence realizing that the alternative is continual mental enslavement of the vulnerable and enervated.

PURPOSE AND INTENT

United Voices for a Common Cause, Inc. (UVCC) realizes that the poor attitudes and dysfunctional family conditions prevail in the African-American community today. More blacks are on probation, parole, or in prison than are graduating from college. The high expulsion, drop-out rates and poor academic performances that exist among black school children appear to be growing exponentially.

New corrupting influences have come into play including rap music, pop-culture celebrities, and what appears to be an emphasis on quick material gain, to name a few. As African American youth continue to speak derogatorily to one another, UVCC believes that they will subconsciously come to view themselves in this same negative light. Far too many black children are raised in an environment that devalues and undermines the need for formal education. The insignificance placed on education has perpetuated an anti-education mindset among African-American children, and parents, more often than not, encouraging a self-destructive mind frame through their lack of participation and support in their child’s education.

UVCC believes that African Americans must now begin a re-defining, self-awareness process to re-establish positive, self-empowering images of themselves and their community. Truly changing the mindset of African American children and youth and begin creating a new generation of confident, well-educated, intelligent black children will require intervention in the early years of a child’s life; commitment to a self-improvement process for the long-term; and continued re-enforcement of positive ideologies in all areas and environments in which children and youth live, play, and learn.

In order to address these problems, the community requires the presence of an organization with the knowledge and skills to provide the assistance and advocacy needed. UVCC is that organization.  To begin changing hearts and minds UVCC will create and provide cultural character building and self-esteem programs for children and youth.

ORGANIZATIONAL INFORMATION

UVCC was incorporated as a 501(C)(3) in April of 2006. With board members varying in background, from a business project manager for Xerox to authors, researcher and newsmagazine publishers, the organization benefits from a wealth of varied insight and skills. The Board is committed to the mission of building African American pride, self-respect and positive social growth by opposing the negative impact of modern culture and improving attitudes to schooling among African American youth.

DONATIONS

UVCC is strategically positioned to assist modern African American children and youth in channeling their energy into building a more positive future for themselves. Far from assuming that the organization has the answer to every problem, UVCC has the beginnings of the answer with their knowledge of how to build and assess a self-esteem pilot program. The future can be as positive as we wish it to be, but in order to get there UVCC needs assistance towards building a pilot program and begin helping today’s children grow into the positive adults of tomorrow.
